BANGALORE: The State Cabinet met late Wednesday to discuss the day's political developments, and Deputy Chief Minister M.P. Prakash and Finance Minister P.G.R. Sindhia said Janata Dal (S) President H.D. Deve Gowda is with the coalition, and he has not "blessed" the withdrawal of support by JD(S) State unit Working President H.D. Kumaraswamy. Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh said the legislature session will begin as scheduled on Thursday, and the Government is willing to prove its majority in the House if the need arises. However, Mr. Prakash pointed out that the Janata Dal (S) legislators who spurred the developments have not said they have no trust in the Government. Although only Mr. Prakash, Mr. Sindhia and Mahadeva Prasad among the Janata Dal (S) Ministers attended the meeting of the Cabinet, Mr. Prakash told presspersons that the Cabinet has expressed support to the Chief Minister. The other Ministers, he said, are not in the city.
Mr. Dharam Singh said only some junior members of the Janata Dal (S) are with Mr. Kumaraswamy.
Revanna unhappy
Hassan Staff Correspondent reports: H.D. Revanna, Minister for Public Works and Energy and Mr. Deve Gowda's son, said he will not support Mr. Kumaraswamy. "I would rather prefer to retire from politics than join the unholy coalition government (the new government that Mr. Kumaraswamy is making efforts to form)," he said.
