Shanmatha Sunadam CD released
Shanmatha Sunadam, kritis of Muthuswamy Dikshithar from the six religious sects Ganapatyam, Kaumaram, Shaktham, Shaivam, Vaishnavam and Sauram, is the latest audio CD by R. Suryaprakash being released in the city on Wednesday.
The singer is accompanied by Vittal Ramamurthy on the violin, Srimushnam V. Rajarao on the mridangam and Vaikom R. Gopalakrishnan on the ghatam.
Kayarohanesam (Saivam) in Karnataka Devagandharai has the clarity, melting devotion and depth unique to Dikshithar's compositions. A raga alapana of Balahamsa marks the beginning of Guruguhadhanyam. The distinct pronunciation of the sharp Sahitya in Sanskrit embellishes the song. The militant image of Shakti is brought out through a poignant rendering of Maruvakadi Malini in Marwa. The stress laid on singing Jaga Jeeva brings out the force and energy that the goddess represents.
Balakrishnam in Gopikavasantham, dedicated to Vaishnavam, evokes images of baby Krishna. An elaborate alapana of Khamboji Raga precedes Marakathavalleem. The song concludes with a percussion dialogue between the mridangam and ghatam. Suryamurthe in Saurashtram and Paramashivathmajam in Yamuna Kalyani are melodious pieces in a slow tempo.
