Six held in Burari dacoity case
According to the police, the accused, identified as Rakesh Kumar, Shalender, Suresh Kumar, Yash Pal, Dharam Singh and Akash Deep, were arrested when they allegedly assembled to carry out yet another dacoity in Transport Centre (Punjabi Bagh) at Rani Bagh in West Delhi on Wednesday around 11 a.m. The accused also opened fire at the police team in a bid to escape but all of them were apprehended. Country-made firearms and live cartridges were recovered from the accused. During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to having committed dacoity in the house of Ajeet Kumar Gola, who lived within the premises of R.K. Public School in Burari, in the early hours of January 27. They first knocked at the door and when Mr. Gola opened, they forcibly entered his house. Apart from other things, they escaped with many electronic items, some of which have been recovered from them.
Three held for burglaries
Acting on a tip-off, a Special Staff team led by Inspector Rajender Singh had laid a trap at Madangir village in South Delhi on Wednesday. The suspects, later identified as Sanjay Kumar and Shiv Kumar, were arrested when they appeared on the scene around 2 p.m. At their instance, the police arrested a jeweller, Sushil, in Madangir who was allegedly receiving stolen property. The police have recovered stolen property worth Rs. 3 lakhs including 18 kg of silver jewellery. The police said Sanjay had been arrested in a double murder case of 1991. He was released from jail after more than 11 years in 2002. However, he again committed a murder and robbery in Madangir and was arrested again. After his release in 2005, he started committing burglaries with his brother Shiv Kumar, who too had been arrested earlier in murder and dacoity cases.
Pirated VCDs seized
According to the police, Satish Kapoor of Prime Protection Private Limited had lodged a complaint with Operation Cell of the North Delhi police about a person manufacturing and selling VCDs using his company's name. A shop in Old Lajpat Rai Market was raided on Wednesday from where the police recovered pirated VCDs, inlay cards and two VCD copiers and arrested the accused, Dalip Kumar Malik. The accused allegedly told the police that he was involved in selling pirating VCDs since 1992. The police said Dalip had floated a company M/S Dash Films Private Limited with three other directors. In 2005, the ownership of the company was transferred to Dharmender Kapoor, one of the directors, as the company ran into losses. Dharmender sold the company to one Sanjay Kumar who in turn sold it to Satish Kapoor. However, accused Dalip continued to use the name of the company in manufacturing and selling pirated VCDs. Further investigations in the case are on.
