Chiluvuru portal vandalised

HYDERABAD: An offending cartoon published in a Danish newspaper and Chiluvuru in Guntur district may not have anything in common. But hasn't the world been turned into a global village nowadays?

So when Muslims all over the world are angered over pictorial depiction of Prophet Mohammed in the cartoon, a portal on Chiluvuru village in Guntur district became the tool for an Iranian hacker, to register his protest by defacing its home page. Hitherto, the cyber vandals were targeting only the websites of Denmark.

The IEG website now becomes the first Indian website to be subjected to cyber vandalism on the cartoon row that has angered Muslims all over the world.

First Internet village

The portal www.ieg.gov.in/chiluvuru hosted on the website of the Institute for Electronic Governance (IEG) of the State Government became the target of `arian hacker' who managed to penetrate the server hosting the IEG website and for some strange reason defaced only the portal on Chiluvuru, the first Internet village in the country. Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy had launched the eSeva centre in Chiluvuru village of Duggirala mandal in August last and named the village as Rajiv Internet Village. The IEG had then hosted a portal dedicated to the village on its official website.

The website administrators were notified by The Hindu of the defacement and efforts were being made to repair the page.
