New norms for transfer of KVS teachers

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has approved new guidelines for transfer of teachers and other employees. Optimum deployment of staff in the interest of the students, maximisation of satisfaction level among staff, decentralisation and transparency are the main features of the guidelines.

Under it, powers of transfer within the region have been decentralised and given to regional transfer committees consisting of Assistant Commissioner, Education Officer and two senior most Principals of whom one would necessarily be a woman.

At least one tenure posting of male teachers below the age of 35 years in priority areas (North Eastern Region, Sikkim, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and other ``hard'' and ``very hard'' stations) has been made mandatory. Besides, transfer T.A. will be payable even to those employees who are transferred to these on their own request.

Under the new norms, vacancy position in priority areas and other areas will be displayed on the website of KVS by 1st April and 25th April respectively so that interested persons can apply for vacancy of their choice. Also, transfer priorities will be displayed on the website to ensure transparency in the transfer process and to minimise grievances.

An element of counselling has been introduced at the regional level.
