Cusat Syndicate finds irregularities in appointments

KOCHI: A Syndicate meeting of the Cochin University of Science and Technology here on Saturday accepted a sub-committee finding that three persons who failed to figure in the rank list have been working as assistants in the university for the last eight years.

The Syndicate sub-committee found that they were appointed in violation of the rules and regulations.

The committee also found that the names of the three candidates did not figure in the rank list published in the gazette. Based on the committee findings, the Syndicate urged the Vigilance Department to initiate an inquiry to nab those responsible for giving appointment to these candidates. The university authorities will also take action against the employees. The appointment was made in 1998.

University budget

The Syndicate on Saturday decided to implement the Government order on pay revision for university employees. Expenditure incurred following the pay revision will be included in the university budget to be presented on March 31.

The Budget will also include details of the financial assistance provided by the Ministry of Human Resources Department for upgrading the university into the level of an IIT.
