NAMAKKAL: Chief Minister and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam supremo Jayalalithaa said the second phase of the Pattanam-Seerapalli Combined Water Supply Scheme would be completed in next February.
First phase
Campaigning in Namakkal district on Tuesday, she said her Government had commenced the scheme in 2003 at Rs. 126.85 crore to benefit 1,081 habitations in the district. The first phase of the scheme was expected to be completed the next month. The scheme would benefit around 4.18 lakh people. Listing out the achievements of the AIADMK Government, she said the State Government had provided Rs. 3.98 crores to the proposed Cauvery High Tech Weaving Park at Komarapalayam, to be established at Rs. 109 crore. About 1.62 lakh farmers in the district were given identity cards under the Farmers Protection Scheme. More than 16,000 beneficiaries received assistance under the scheme to the tune of about Rs. 3.3 crores, she claimed. She promised job to one unemployed member in every family. If voted back to power, she said her Government would create employment opportunities to 32 lakh persons, including women and youth, in the IT and organic farm production sectors. She also highlighted the free bicycle and free text book schemes to students. She earlier resumed her campaign covering Tiruchengode, Rasipuram, Namakkal and Paramathi Velur before entering Karur district.
