KARUR: "I have justified the faith the people of the State had reposed in me by not only fulfilling the promises made five years ago but also bested them in dealing with situations such as the tsunami and the floods," Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has said. "My goal is to give shape to your dreams and aspirations. To achieve that, re-elect our party to power, by supporting the Democratic People's Front candidates," she said, touring Karur district on Wednesday. The welfare measures launched by her were all people-oriented, and by re-electing her, the people could ensure their continuance. Ms. Jayalalithaa pointed to the farmers' protection scheme, the free cycles scheme, the free textbooks scheme, the lowest bus fare, free dhotis and saris to the downtrodden, besides road improvement and infrastructure development as achievements during the past five years. In fact every section had benefited during the period, she said.
