Letters to the Editor
The promises made by the Tamil Nadu political parties are amazing. The DMK has promised rice at Rs.2 a kg plus free supply of colour television sets and gas stoves. The AIADMK, on its part, says it will supply 10 kg of rice a month free, while the DMDK promises free door delivery of 15 kg rice plus Rs.500 for groceries every month. But what people need is a state in which they can acquire the purchasing power to buy rice, TV sets, and groceries. But politicians cutting across party lines seem to disagree they want us to eat, sleep, idle away, and watch TV for the next five years by which time they will come up with a different set of promises.
