Loans to buy fishing vessels disbursed

As part of a self-employment programme

KOZHIKODE: Loans to buy fishing vessels was disbursed to fisherfolk as part of the self-employment programme under the aegis of the District Industries Centre (DIC), Kozhikode and Theera Desa Raksha Social Welfare Society with the financial assistance of the Chalappuram branch of the Canara Bank.

A. Pradeep Kumar MLA distributed the assistance under the Prime Minister's Rozgar Yojna (PMRY), at a programme held here on Sunday.

Educational kits were distributed under the aegis of the Dubai-based organisation KMCC. Former Minister, P.K. Kunhalikutty distributed assistance under the `Puthur Mariyumma Memorial endowment' to students who performed well in SSLC and Plus Two examinations.

The programme was presided by DIC General Manager P.K. Narayanan. League district secretary, N.C. Aboobacker, Canara Bank Assistant General Manager K.G.P. Shenoy, branch manager Nandakumar, KMCC Dubai coordinator, M.V.Siddique, Theera Desha Raksha Social Welfare Society president, Rafi Puthiyakadave, secretary, Abdumon, director, M.S. Sathar, were present.
