Power shutdown

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended in parts of Alandur, Sowcarpet, Vadapalani, Gopalapuram, Kodambakkam, Velachery and Anna Nagar between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Blood donation

camp organised

The Blood Bank of Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu branch and the Youth Red Cross Wing of the DRBCC Hindu College, Pattabhiram, conducted a blood donation camp on Wednesday at the college. A total of 200 units of blood were donated.

BSNL telephone numbers changed

Around 550 telephone numbers of BSNL, Chennai Telephones, in the Anna Road Main Exchange Area with area codes 2841, 2842, 2851, 2852, 2854, 2855, 2856, 2858 and 2859 will be transferred to Greams Road RSU at 16, Greams Road, with the new code 2829 from 5 p.m.

on Friday.

The change applies to connections at the even numbers between Old Door Numbers 656 and 734 or New Door Numbers 208 and 336 of Anna Salai, Pathari Road and Rangoon Street.

The helpline numbers for enquiries are 28290123 and 28295999. Those with complaints may

contact 28291191.

Customers having NSD/ISD would have to re-register their password after the area transfer.

Weekend programme for kids

Several private educational services institutions have come together to organise `Wonderful Weekends' programme for children in age groups of four to six, seven to 10 and 11 to 15 from Sunday at 8, Dhanalakshmi Colony Main Road, Vadapalani. Speeding tanker

kills girl

A speeding tanker knocked down a 13-year-old girl at Madambakkam village near Pallikaranai on Wednesday. Police said a motorised tricycle carrying M. Kokila and her parents was hit by the tanker turning into Madambakkam Main Road. The girl, who suffered severe head injuries, died on

the spot.

A case has been registered by the police against

the driver for rash and negligent driving.
