The pond at the CoP's office
Staff Reporter
CHENNAI:
Visitors to the Chennai Metropolitan Police Commissioner's Office at Egmore cannot miss the small pond, in which live a few varieties of fishes.
In 2002, 32 fishes were released into the pond, and again this year another 66 ornamental fishes were released.
The species included Koicarp, shark (black and brown), tiger shark, Brass Goldfish, Snakehead (Varaal) and Perch (Kendai) fishes.
The fishes are given a special feed, and they are growing well in the pond, said the officer in charge of the maintenance of the pond and the fishes. The water is changed and the pool cleaned every month.
So far, none of the fishes have bred at the pond, the officer said.
