NAGAPATTINAM: The Seva Bharathi on Thursday handed over 248 permanent houses built for tsunami-hit families to G. Radha, project officer, District Rural Development Agency, on behalf of Tenkasi S. Jawahar, Nagapattinam Collector . Mohanji Bhagavath, RSS general secretary, handed over the houses, built at a cost of Rs. 6 crore, at Keechankuppam coastal hamlet in Nagapattinam. According to Kesava Vinayakam, State general secretary of Seva Bharathi, it was constructing 1,125 permanent houses for the tsunami-affected families in Tamil Nadu of which 800 houses were being constructed in Keechankuppam. He said that Seva Bharathi had been carrying out several tsunami rehabilitation programmes including free tuition centres, tailoring classes, medical camps, computer training centres, etc. in various tsunami-hit villages in the State. K. Sankaran, project officer of Seva Bharathi in Tamil Nadu, said that Seva Bharathi took up tsunami rehabilitation activities in 13 districts from Kanyakumari to Chennai at a total cost of Rs.36 crore.
