`Sandanakoodu' procession

Witnessed by thousands of devotees

NAGAPATTINAM: Thousands of devotees witnessed the main event of `Sandanakoodu' procession as part of the Nagore Kandoori festival from Nagapattinam to Nagore on Thursday.

Fatiha would be performed on July 10, the concluding day of the festival.

The main event of the anointment of sandal paste at the famous

five-century-old Dargah of Saint Hazrath Syed Shahul Hameed Quadir Wali would be performed on Friday morning.

The fortnight-long 449th year Kandoori festival began with the hoisting of the holy flag at the Nagore Dargah near here on June 27.

The festival attracts thousands of devotees from various parts of the country and also from countries like Sri Lanka, Myanmar and the Gulf.

Holiday

Meanwhile, the district administration has declared holiday for all Government offices on July 7. In lieu, August 12 (Saturday) would be a working day, a communication from Tenkasi S. Jawahar, Collector, said here on Thursday.
