HYDERABAD: Lok Satta has finally announced its entry into the political arena with the launch of a new party on October 1 this year. The new party will work on the people-centric issues, a measure through which the Lok Satta wants to usher in new political culture. It will conduct preparatory meetings and training camps in all districts from August 13 and target people seeking change in the present political system. "Those seeking a change in the present system should join us," Lok Satta founder Jayaprakash Narayan said.
Issues identified
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, he said that the party would mainly focus on issues like health and education for all, women empowerment, employment to qualified youth, doubling rural income in five years and decentralisation of administration to grassroot level. Clear policy decisions on major issues would be announced soon. Replying to queries, he admitted that there was a possibility of some people entering Lok Satta indulging in irregularities like offering bribes for the sake of votes. "But the moment we notice such things, we will campaign against our own candidates," he said and advised those who were keen on securing power rather than rendering public service to keep away from the party.
