P. Janardhan Reddy
HYDERABAD : Congress MLA P. Janardhan Reddy has demanded cancellation of the controversial GO 72 which, he termed, is against the interests of the people of Telangana and also spirit of the Presidential Order. The GO 72 was issued to rectify technical problems encountered during the implementation of GO No 610. Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, Mr. Reddy wanted the Government to implement GO 610 in toto. Every political party had opposed GO 72 at an all-party meeting that was convened to discuss the matter, he said. When there was stiff opposition to the order, it was in the best interest of the Government that it was cancelled. Under the present circumstances, GO 610 should be implemented with all sincerity so that injustice done to the people of Telangana was rectified.
Throwaway prices
On Government lands being sold away in and around Hyderabad, Mr. Reddy said a few persons were wielding considerable influence in cornering Government lands at throwaway prices and depriving the farmers of decent rates. He took a dig at the Government stating that it was following the same policy as the previous TDP Government by alienating Government land at cheaper rates. M. Sashidhar Reddy, Congress MLA from Sanathnagar, said he favoured a permanent solution to the flood problem. Mere temporary works would not help in preventing repeat of flood havoc, he said asking the Government to evolve a plan to ensure that the people did not suffer in future.
