HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has refuted the charges levelled by Telugu Desam (TDP) and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leaders that relief work in flood-hit areas has been tardy. APCC official spokesperson N. Tulasi Reddy and farmers' cell chairman M. Kodanda Reddy said at a press conference here on Wednesday that in spite of constraints like snapping of road links, relief teams had reached the flood-hit areas. Reacting to the charge that the Government had left victims to fend for themselves, they said it was unfortunate that some parties were indulging in fault-finding instead of extending support.
`Better than TDP'
Dr. Tulasi Reddy said relief operations were far better than those undertaken during the nine-year rule of the TDP Government. The Government had spent more money from the Calamity Relief Fund. Mr. Kodanda Reddy objected to the TRS leaders' remarks that relief operations were not satisfactory in Telangana. Whenever any natural calamity occurred, the Government took up relief work immediately and never discriminated between different regions. He said if the TRS leaders were so concerned about the well being of the region's people, its leaders like K. Chandrasekhara Rao and A. Narendra should use their good offices at Centre and ensure more funds.
