Rosaiah justifies Sonia's visit

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Finance Minister K. Rosaiah has strongly defended AICC president Sonia Gandhi visiting flood-affected areas and criticised Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu for making this also an issue.

Talking to reporters here on Wednesday, he said: "It is not proper to question the visit by a prominent person," recalling how NTR, without holding an official position, had toured Rayalaseema during a drought and Maharashtra after the earthquake in Latur. Referring to the TDP leaders' remarks, he said: "She has every right to visit the flood-hit areas not only as a citizen but as leader of a national party running the Government at the Centre."
