HYDERABAD: Towards removing encroachments that had come up alongside the Chowmohalla Palace in old city as per court orders, the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad (MCH) initiated a demolition exercise on Wednesday.

Work began with the top floor of a building adjacent to the palace being demolished and officials said the remaining lower floors would also be demolished soon. "The owner has given consent and we are proceeding with care since the structure is located close to the palace," the official said.

22 structures

There are 22 more similar structures around the palace that had come up without permission and the same would be attended to in due course of time, he added.
