Silambarasan and Stalin enter final

MADURAI: Silambarasan and Stalin, both from Chennai entered the boys' under-18 singles final of the 48th Tamil Nadu State carrom championship for boys and girls organised here on Sunday.

The results (all semifinals):

Boys u-18: Silambarasan bt Sathishkumar (Che) 25-10, 25-2; Stalin bt Ashok Kumar (Che) 25-20, 25-22; u-14: Dilli Babu (Che) bt Franklin (Mdu) 25-4, 25-9; D. Sriram (Mdu) bt Damodharan (Che) 25-20, 25-4; u-12: Vigneshwaran (Che) bt G.J. Girithanaran (Che) 25-10, 25-9.

Girls: u-18: Sri Vidhya (Mdu) bt Suganya (Che) 25-0, 25-12; u-14: Sarayu Rithambra (Vnr) bt Sarah (Mdu) 25-13, 25-0; M. Kanagadhara (Mdu) bt Beneeta (Mdu) 25-2, 25-18; u-12: Abirami bt Manimegalai (Mdu) 25-4, 25-0; Parveen (Mdu) bt Vanthana (Vnr) 22-5, 4-25, 25-10.

Eleven Bullets moves up

Saravanaraj's half century helped Eleven Bullets Cricket Club defeat Majestic Cricket Club by six wickets and enter the semifinals of the 10th annual Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Trophy district-level cricket tournament in Madurai on Sunday.

The scores: (quarterfinals):Majestic CC 116 in 19 overs (Ramadurai 42, Kumar four for 17) lost to Eleven Bullets CC 117 for four in 16 overs (Saravanaraj 51); Arasaradi CC 117 for nine in 18 overs bt DDK CC 98 for eight in 18 overs; KKRC 73 in 11 overs (Vimal four for 16) lost to TVS Srichakra CC 74 for six in 16 overs; Le Chatelier CC `A' 126 for seven in 20 overs (Bhagat 41) bt Spark CC 98 for two in 20 overs.

Veeraragavan sizzles

V. Veeraragavan (Dalmia Recreation Club) won a double at the district ranking table tennis tournament at the BHEL Community centre in Tiruchi on Sunday.

In the men's singles finals, Veeraragavan got the better of S. Hariharasudan (Royal Sports Club) 13-11, 11-3, 12-10, 11-8. In the open doubles finals, Veeraragavan along with S. Kumaran prevailed over K. Thivakaran and S. Augustin Enigo (RSK Higher Secondary School) 11-2-11-7.

In the junior boys finals, S. Augustine Enigo downed his schoolmate S. Gowtham 11-5, 11-7, 9-11, 11-6.

Big win for Solar FC

Solar Football Club, Nilakottai posted a 4-0 victory over Royal FC, Batlagundu in the Dindigul District Football Association first division league in Dindigul on Sunday.

The results: Solar FC 4 (Balakumar 2, Rajamohan, Chellappa) bt Royal FC 0; Annai Sports Club 1 (Peter) bt SMBM FC 0; Royal FC 1 (Chitravel) bt PSNA FC 0.
