Seven Delhi police personnel arrested
Head Constable Yashpal and constables Pradeep, Satish, Ravinder and Naresh, and the dismissed constables, Ashok and Suraj Pal, were arrested on Sunday night. They have been charged with abducting Zulfikar and Nazakat from near a Ghaziabad court and then gunning them down in an "encounter''. A dismissed assistant sub-inspector Pramod Tyagi and a dismissed constable Sudesh Rana are absconding.
S.K. Pande elected DUJ president
The polls to elect the office-bearers of the DUJ were held on August 12. The team for continuity, change and action, headed by Mr Pande, swept the polls. While Mr Dinesh Chandra was elected as the vice-president, Mr Javed Faridi was elected as the general secretary. Mr Shamim Siddiqui, Mr Madan Lal Talwar and T K Rajalakshmi were elected to the posts of secretaries. Ms Sujata Madhok was elected as the treasurer.
Two airport staff held
The two identified as Satya Dev and Musharat Hussain were immediately whisked away for questioning, informed sources said.
