Former legislators appeal to Chief Minister

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has assured former legislators that he will look into their plea for extending more facilities.

Addressing the general body of the Andhra Pradesh Former Legislators Forum in the Old Assembly building on Tuesday, Dr. Reddy offered to discuss with Health Minister K. Rosaiah the complaint that super speciality hospitals were not following the Government Order not to charge any advance from them.

He promised to ensure that the hospitals implemented the G.O. strictly.

On their demand for free travel in APSRTC buses, the Chief Minister said he could not take any decision now. He said he would have to consult the APSRTC officials even on the ex-MLAs' plea to deduct the fares from their pension.

The forum leaders said 14 State-run transport corporations elsewhere were extending the facility to ex-MLAs.

Earlier, the general body adopted a resolution urging the Government to consider the former MLAs under category - III on a par with families of Government officials in providing accommodation at AP Bhavan, New Delhi.

Members appealed to the Government to consider the tenure of the members of the 7th and 11th Assembly, which were dissolved for different reasons as full for the purpose of fixing pension.
