HYDERABAD: The police arrested a 15-year-old boy for allegedly killing an old woman, Srikantha Gangwal in Banjara Hills as she refused to pay him his salary. The boy, hailing from Mayurbhanj of Orissa, joined as a domestic help in Gangwal's house barely a week ago. He demanded his salary of the week amounting to Rs. 250, but the woman reportedly refused to pay and when he persisted with his demand, she asked him to leave the house, the police said.
Gruesome murder
When his repeated pleas for salary failed, the boy allegedly picked up an iron rod and hit her. Fearing that the woman may identify him to police, if she survived, he picked up a knife and inflicted fatal wounds on her. Additional CP Rajiv Trivedi told newsmen on Tuesday. The boy was also produced before the media persons.
Jewellery untouched
As he knew where the woman kept the money, the boy opened a shelf and collected Rs. 12,000 and fled. He did not touch the jewellery and huge cash lying in the house. Initially, police believed it to be a case of murder for gain by a professional, but further investigations helped the police crack the case by arresting the domestic servant.
