Staff Correspondent
HUBLI: Vehicular movement was affected for a while on the old National Highway passing through Hubli on Thursday following heavy rush of students at the counselling for the admission process to Industrial Training Institutes. The counselling for admission to Industrial Training Institutes in Hubli-Dharwad and Kalghatgi began at the Government ITI at Vidyanagar in Hubli on August 29. Since it was the penultimate day of the counselling process, several students and their parents gathered in front of the Government ITI. When it came to be known that not many seats were available for admission, the students and their parents became anxious and everybody wanted to enter the ITI premises immediately. Anxiety led students who were standing in the queue to push each other in an attempt to get into the premises at the earliest. The development led to chaos and many students came out of the college premises and onto the road thus hindering vehicular movement on the old National Highway. However, the police intervened to bring the situation under control. Steps were taken to streamline the process. Later, counselling went on smoothly with the police keeping a vigil.
