Dacoits strike at house, take away cash, ornaments

They broke open the main door and threatened the family before decamping with the booty

SHIMOGA: A gang of dacoits struck at a house at Melina Hanasawadi near here on Wednesday and decamped with cash and ornaments valued at about Rs. 72,000.

According to sources, the gang of dacoits gained entry to the house of a RTO agent Manjunath by breaking open the main door and threatened the occupants with weapons before tying up Manjunath and his family members with saris.

Then they got the key of the almirah from Manjuanth and decamped with the booty after snatching ornaments worn by Manjunath's wife.

The sources said the dacoits spoke Kannada and wore masks. They took away a mobile phone from Manjunath after removing the SIM card.

They snapped the phone cables and deflated the tyres of motorcycles parked outside the house.

They latched the main door before leaving the place.

Superintendent of Police Arun Chakravarthy and Additional Superintendent of Police S.N. Siddharamappa visited the spot.
