IN PROTEST: Janata Dal (Secular) workers staging a demonstration in Sagar on Thursday.
SHIMOGA: Workers of the Janata Dal (Secular) staged a demonstration in Sagar town on Thursday in protest against the bribery charges levelled by the suspended BJP MLC Janardhan Reddy against Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy in the mining case. The demonstrators took out a procession and held a protest meeting near the bus stand. They burnt the effigy of Mr. Janardhan Reddy. Addressing the gathering, former MLA from Sagar and party leader L.T. Thimmappa Hegde said those who were jealous of the progress being achieved by the coalition Government headed by Mr. Kumaraswamy in all fields were making baseless charges against him (Mr. Kumaraswamy). Mr. Thimmappa Hegde alleged that Congress leaders were getting baseless corruption charges levelled against the Chief Minister through Mr. Janardhan Reddy as they were jealous of the progress made by his Government in the last six months. President of the Sagar town unit of the Janata Dal (S) I.N. Suresh Babu said what the Congress Government could not achieve in the last 20 years the Janata Dal (S) led-coalition Government had achieved in the last six months. The party's leaders, including President of the Sagar taluk unit of the Janata Dal (S) Rathnakar Gowda, Narayanappa, M.S. Goudar, Umesh Naik, Mutturaj, Subhash and Mohammad Koya, participated.
