Spadework for IT Park in advanced stage: Collector

Special Correspondent

Coimbatore: Preliminary arrangements for the proposed Information Technology (IT) Park here were in an advanced stage, Collector Neeraj Mittal told a press conference here on Thursday.

"You may hear a few names (who planned to set up shop) because things are moving at break-neck speed," Mr Mittal added.

Pointing out that already 29 acres had been acquired for the park and handed over to the Electronic Corporation of Tamil Nadu, he said there was a proposal to expand it as well. The administration was on the look-out for some alternative places in and around Coimbatore. They need not necessarily be on Avanashi Road. However, Avanashi Road had been favoured because of its proximity to airport. He said the proposed park was expected to generate employment for 18,000 persons.
