Record-aspirant looking for a sponsor

Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: He is a long-distance runner running pillar to post to realise his dream of making it to the Limca Book of Records.

A native of Ulloor, R.S. Vinod received consent of the Limca Book of Records to run 1,000 km from Parasala in Thiruvananthapuram to Manjeswaram in Kasaragod in nine days.

But the going may not be easy for this 26-year-old who drives an autorickshaw for livelihood.

It is estimated that the entire event will cost nearly Rs.1 lakh including the appointment of observers and video crew to monitor the run. A winner of several middle and long-distance races at the State and national level, Vinod hopes to cover 80 km a day. The 1,000-kilometre run is also an attempt to draw the attention of the authorities to his need for a job.
