10 paise bonanza becomes a raging hit

VIJAYAWADA: Officials of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited are a happy lot these days over the tremendous response to the limited `10 paise per minute service' for customers of post-paid and pre-paid cellular connections. Almost all 54,000 customers in the district in the pre-paid cellular segment have forwarded their request for enlisting their preferred numbers under the service.

It has generated so much interest among post-paid cellular customers that over 3,000 have already begun availing themselves of the service.

Besides meeting its objective of retaining the existing BSNL cellular customers, the scheme is expected to break new ground in winning favour from customers of other providers also. With the BSNL providing this service through SMS also, the post-paid customers have responded more enthusiastically this time. Prior to this, all post-paid customers were asked to submit their request form at the respective BSNL offices for making use of the service.

It's free

L. Sreenu, deputy general manager (customer services), says that the BSNL is offering the new service at no extra cost and the calls can be made to any number within the State. Any BSNL cellular customer may SMS two landline numbers or one landline number and one cellular number to 3733 and they can make use of the new offer.

The format for sending this request is - `ffc' landline number with STD code and a cellular number. The customers can enjoy talking to their preferred numbers at 10 paise per minute anywhere in the State. "They are paying just Re. 1 for 10 minutes. The customers have given a huge response to this. They are also using this to the maximum. We are planning to make use of this to facilitate further growth," Mr. Sreenu says. He says that the full talk time value offered on pre-paid connections as a Vijayaka Chaturdhi offer has also generated a good response. Full talk time value is offered on Rs. 300, Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000 pre-paid cards.
