Letters to the Editor
This refers to the incident at the Anna International Terminal in Chennai where CISF personnel briefly detained a French journalist who continued smoking in the security area, despite being warned not to do so. They have set an example by ensuring that the security rules were strictly complied with.
G.E.B. Siluvaimani,
* * * True, the foreign national was at fault but the CISF men had no business to manhandle him. They acted in a manner that is beyond their brief. Only recently, our Government raised a hue and cry over the treatment meted out to Indian passengers by the Dutch authorities. The treatment of the journalist is equally deplorable.
V.S. Jayaraman,
