Madras Medical Mission Hospital ties up with Madurai university

Health programmes planned at MMM Academy of Medical Sciences at Nolambur near Chennai One-year post-graduate diploma in nutrition and dietetics and a postgraduate diploma in bio-statistics are offered.

CHENNAI
: Madras Medical Mission Hospital has entered into collaboration with Madurai Kamaraj University to conduct allied health programmes at MMM Academy of Medical Sciences, a unit of the hospital, at Nolambur near here.
One-year post-graduate diploma in nutrition and dietetics and a postgraduate diploma in bio-statistics will be conducted under the regular and distance mode systems. Students will have to do a project at the end of their course.
The subjects for Nutrition course are: clinical nutrition, nutrition through life cycle management, biochemistry, research methodology and statistics, general and social psychology. Bio-statistics will include probability distribution and sampling, health statistics, data management and demography, research design and bio-statistical inference, research methods and basic epidemiology.
Post-degree bio-statistics students will aid researches in the field of health to help doctors/dentists/scientists and those working in the field of epidemiology. Nutrition students will work as dieticians in hospitals.
K.V. George, secretary of the MMM, and V. Alagappan, registrar, and S. Vadivelu, director of the university, signed the collaboration.
