VIJAYAWADA: Third Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate K. Chidananda on Thursday remanded Musunuri Srinivas alias Katragadda Srinu to a seven-day police custody from Friday. The Governorpet police will take him into custody for interrogation before producing him in the court on September 8. A key accused in the attack on the life of Congress sympathiser Vangaveeti Santan Kumar, Srinu surrendered in the High Court on August 25 and presented himself before the city Police Commissioner the next day. The Governorpet police, who are investigating the case, arrested him and produced him before the magistrate. He was sent for a 14-day remand. Subsequently, Inspector K.V. Rama Rao moved a petition in the court seeking police custody for Srinu.
Body found
The railway police on Thursday found the body of a 25-year-old man on the railway track near Rayanapadu and identified the victim as Durga Rao of Srikakulam. The police suspected that he might have fallen down from a moving train and died. Durga Rao was a mason and was on his way to his native place from Tandur in Ranga Reddy.
