Celebrations

The Coimbatore Division of Life Insurance Corporation of India will organise a week-long programme from September 1 to celebrate `Insurance Week'. It will distribute wheelchairs to the disabled, water containers to rural schools and will organise health camps for schoolstudents. Competitions will also be organised for school and college students on September 7. According to a release, Coimbatore Division has garnered Rs. 163 crore as first premium during the current fiscal as against the targeted premium of Rs. 315 crore. The division sold over 1.03 crores of Bima Gold policies last year and a variant of this product called `New Bima Gold' will be launched on September 4.

Onam festival

Coimbatore Malayali Samajam will celebrate Onam on September 5 at the Samajam auditorium. Commissioner of Income Tax, Coimbatore, Rajani Kant Gupta will be the chief guest. Pongallur N. Palanisamy, Coimbatore East MLA, will inaugurate the celebrations.

No power

There will be no power supply in the following areas on September 1 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. due to shutdown at Annur sub-station for maintenance work:

Anur, Kuppepalayam, Odderpalayam, Kemba

naickenpalayam, Kariyampalayam, Paduvam

palli, Pogalur, Ganesapuram, Pasur, Chokkampalayam and Kumarapalayam.

Exhibition

The Centre for Women's Studies of the PSGR Krishnammal College for Women and the Confederation of Indian Industry, Coimbatore Zone, will organise an exhibition-cum-sale of products made by women self-help groups at September 2.
