COLOMBO: Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa has highlighted the importance of "building goodwill" between the LTTE and the government delegation for peace talks in Switzerland on October 28 and 29. He was addressing a workshop for the delegation. A statement said Mr. Rajapakse set guidelines for the talks. The statement said the President advised the delegation to ensure the continuation of the peace talks. It said he had also advised the delegation to convince the international community on the Government's honest commitment in achieving lasting peace. The workshop also "looked in to the future procedures of the peace talks based on the decisions and the proposals of the all party advisory committee." Ministers Nimal Siripala de Silva, Rohita Bogollagama, Jeyaraj Fernandopulle, Ferial Ashraff, President's secretary Lalti Weeratunge, Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapakse, Head of the Peace Secretariat Palitha Kohona, President's counsel Gomin Dayasiri and H.L. de Silva, and the former Inspector-General, Chandra Fernando, attended the workshop. The military said hundreds of civilians staged a protest at the Government Agent's Office demanding the re-opening of the Omanthai entry/exit point in the Tiger-controlled areas.
