HYDERABAD: Three unidentified persons took away Rs. 1.5 lakh after attacking an elderly woman with a knife while she was alone in her house at Tilaknagar during daytime on Monday. Anasuya (65), the victim, was in the kitchen when the trio came from behind, covered her face with a cloth and inflicted a knife injury on her face around 11.40 a.m. \As she fell unconscious, the offenders collected a gold chain weighing three tolas and the cash from an almirah in the bedroom and walked away. After gaining consciousness, the woman called up her husband Krishna Reddy who complained to the Kachiguda police. Mr. Krishna Reddy, a retired employee of Horticulture department, had gone out three hours ago. Kachiguda ACP N. Prabhakar Reddy said that the police suspected the involvement of Mahmood, who earlier worked as car driver with Reddy, in the offence. A few minutes before the trio attacked the woman, Mahmood, along with two other associates came to the house and asked Ms. Anasuya if she could help his son find a job. "Soon after the driver and his men left, the offenders attacked Ms. Anasuya. She could not recognise them since they came from behind," the ACP said.
