FROM THE FARM: Reliance Fresh all set to open on November 3 in Banjara Hills.
HYDERABAD: Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) announced the opening of the first format of its Rs. 25,000-crore retail initiative on November 3 while also throwing open its grocery brand `Reliance Select'. The store at Road No. 11, Banjara Hills, that was unveiled for the media on Sunday was among a set of pilot stores that RIL would be opening in the city next week. Company's chief executive (food business) Gunender Kapur said they were planning to test the market in next few months. Other formats of the retail initiative were groceries and hypermarkets. He said that `Fresh' stores would offer a wide range of fruits, vegetables and dairy products. They would fine-tune marketing concepts before rolling out to other cities and States based on feedback.
Affordable rates
Prices, Mr. Kapur said, would be affordable and the company would talk about pricing only after the stores were opened. Sourcing of the produce would be from across India at the 2,000 to 5,000 sq. ft friendly neighbourhood stores, explained K.S. Venugopal, chief executive (customer operations).
