Niloufer strike called off

Staff Reporter

Government promises adequate security arrangements

HYDERABAD: The flash strike launched by junior doctors at Niloufer hospital on Friday was called off on Sunday.

Andhra Pradesh Junior Doctors Association Niloufer unit president G. Harikrishna said the strike was called off in view of the assurances given by Principal Secretary (Health) P.K. Agarwal.

"We have been assured that a police outpost will be set up in Niloufer and all Government hospitals shortly while Mr. Agarwal has issued directions to recruit an efficient security agency for internal security in Niloufer. Steps are also being taken to set right water shortage in the casualty," Dr. Harikrishna said.

The junior doctors, claiming they were calling off the strike to avoid inconvenience to patients, however said they had no hopes of the Government keeping its promises.
