Authoritative document, says Shahabuddin

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: President of the All-India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM) Syed Shahabuddin has welcomed the Justice Sachar Committee report, saying it was an "authoritative document on the status of Muslims."

In a statement, he, however, said the committee's findings were neither new nor novel. "The AIMMM has come to the conclusion that the continuing deprivation of and injustice to the Muslims, 60 years after Partition, reflect the deep-seated communal bias which has penetrated the executive at every level."

Mr. Shahabuddin said that short of reservation all sweet phrases such as "fair share and equitable space" would come to nothing and the unfair, inequitable and unjust status quo would continue.
