Letters to the Editor
The killing of Dalits in Khairlanji is shameful but worse is the official attitude towards the incident. The police reached the spot three hours after the outrage and allegedly destroyed the evidence. Angered at the Maharashtra Government's apathy in the almost two months since the killings took place, Dalits have started taking out protest marches. They have been promptly accused of having naxalite links. While the protesters are being arrested, the culprits are free.
R. Prashant,
* * * The shameful Khairlanji incident has shocked the nation. Many incidents of Dalit atrocities are reported in the media. There are reports of Dalit women being raped, stripped, beaten on suspicion of being witches, tonsured, forced to ride on a donkey, and so on. The need of the hour is to evolve measures by which all sections of society can get equal respect.
Shivam Sharma,
