Takes over as Vice-Chief of Navy

NEW DELHI: Vice-Admiral Nirmal Verma on Thursday took over as Vice-Chief of the Naval Staff in place of Vice-Admiral Venkat Bharathan, who retired after 39 years.

Admiral Verma has commanded a frigate, destroyer and aircraft carrier, besides serving as Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff (Policy and Plans). His last posting was Chief of Personnel.
