Making an entry into the world of words is never easy. But the task becomes more daunting when the writers are not still adults and attempting to write fantasy. While this feat might be exceptional for all children, the story of the Guptara twins is particularly heart warming as they have some claim to being "desi". "We have sold the rights of their book "Conspiracy of Calaspia" in Italian for 60,000 euros. We are working to sell the rights in German for the book once the offices open next year after the holidays," says Anuj Bahari, the agent for the twins. Of Indian origin and based in U.K., the twins -- Suresh and Jyoti -- started writing this book when they were 11 years. Six years and many drafts later, their first book "Conspiracy of Calaspia" has been published. The first in the series of many more fantasy novels, the twins have been given a rather warm welcome to the club of writers. Not interested in creating a world of wizards and muggles, the Guptara twins are writing in the "Lord of the Rings" theme. "They aren't eighteen as yet. But they have great understanding of the language and write beautiful," asserts Mr. Bahari. Set in Calaspia, a fictious alternative universe, the hero of their series is Bryn Bellyset, who is an heir of a vast commercial empire, but has grown up sheltered till he is of age. Following the footsteps of their hero in a way, the twins came to Delhi recently to claim their rather "revered" position in India of being writers. And to ensure that their following expands more than just the Capital, there will be book launches in Chennai and Hyderabad too.
