NEDUMBASSERY: A three-member delegation of the Coir Board led by its Chairman A.C. Jose left here from the Cochin International Airport on Thursday to participate in the four-day International Carpets & Floor-covering Exhibition to be held at Hanover in Germany. Talking to reporters at the airport on Thursday, Mr. Jose said that Kerala was a regular participant in the exhibition, the world's biggest exhibition showcasing the best of coir products, held annually. He said that during last year's edition, the State was able to bag business worth about Rs.120 crore. ``We target to achieve the same volume or even more in the forthcoming fair,'' he said. Around 40 exporters from Kerala dealing in coir and other related products were expected to participate in this year's fair to be held from January 13 to January 16. Mr. Jose said a buyer-seller meet would be held at the venue to showcase and promote the brand image of Kerala as an exporter of coir and related products. Besides this, another meeting would be organised at Bremn, Germany, to attract buyers for the various products from the State like coir pith, soil conditioner, `growing media' for the quality growing of plants, etc. Participation of international vendors in both these meetings would help the State's traditional industry earn rich dividend. Mr. Jose was accompanied by Anita Jacob, development officer, and V. Babu, extension officer.
