T.V. Mohandas Pai
BANGALORE: Rajasthan is emerging as a hotspot for investments in the Information Technology sector due to its proximity to Delhi, Infosys Technologies Director (Human Resources) T.V. Mohandas Pai said on Thursday. Jaipur has become a part of the northern golden triangle, comprising Delhi and Noida, for IT industries, he told presspersons here after the announcement of the third quarter performance of Infosys ending December 31. "The Government is providing help to promote IT industry and the head count of IT professionals in Jaipur will double shortly from 3,000 at present." The southern golden triangle comprises Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad. Rating different State Governments in promoting the sector, Mr. Pai said: "Support from the Governments of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Kerala, Orissa and Chandigarh have been good to very good. When it comes to Bangalore, the support is okay. Bangalore offers opportunity but a lot more needs to be done." On Infosys' expansion plans in Bangalore, he said: "We have obtained the consent of the people at Sarjapur and Infosys has applied for land from the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board." Mr. Pai denied allegations that Infosys had taken an anti-Kannadiga stand in terms of providing employment. Of its 70,000 employees , 30,000 were Kannadigas, he said. Such campaigns would send wrong signals to IT companies planning to invest in Karnataka.
