Rupee drops further against $

MUMBAI: The rupee fell further against the U.S. currency and ended low at 44.59/60 a dollar on Thursday due to increased dollar demand along with rise in dollar against other world currencies.

In active trade at the interbank foreign exchange market, the Indian unit resumed steady at 44.54/56 a dollar later fell sharply due to heavy dollar demand and after hitting a low of 44.62, it ended at 44.59/60, sharply lower than the Wednesday's close of 44.54/56 a dollar.

The rupee also ended lower against the British pound, but was better against the euro and Japanese yen. — PTI
