Easy for Krishna, Kurnool

VIJAYAWADA: Krishna, Kurnool, East Godavari and Vizianagaram girls advanced to the semifinals of the 21st Andhra sub junior inter-district kho kho tournament for boys and girls held at NTR Stadium at Gudivada on Thursday.

The results: Girls (quarterfinals): Kurnool bt Anantapur 9-5, Krishna bt Vizag 10-3, East Godavari bt Srikakulam 9-5, Vizianagaram bt Guntur 11-8.

AITA tennis at Eluru

All India Tennis Association talent series tournament for under-14 boys and girls will be held at three venues at Eluru (West Godavari) from January 15 to 19, AITA observer P. R. Raju said here on Thursday. More than 100 players from Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka are taking part in the tournament. The qualifying rounds will be held on January 13 and 14. The tournament will be played at Eluru Club, DSA tennis complex and Officer's Club.

Athletic meet

South Central Railway inter-divisional athletic meet for men and women will be held from January 21 to 23 at the Railway mini stadium. Athletes from Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Nanded, Guntakal, Combined Workshop, Guntur, headquarters and Railway Protection Force will take part in the three-day event.

AP throwball teams

AP throwball teams to take part in the 52nd National School Games championship for the under-19 boys and girls from January 16 were announced here on Thursday.

The teams: Girls: K. Kamakshi, L. Tirupathamma (Guntur), Y.R. Lakshmi (WG), Hima Bindu (Krishna), Jyothi Priyanka (Kurnool), Ch. Anusha (EG), Meenakshi (Hyd), Sowjanya (Warangal), Priyanka (Ranga Reddy), T. Hima Bindu (WG), T. Jyothi and T. Anusha (Krishna).
