Mumbai triumphs

SHIMOGA: Mumbai University won the all-India inter-zonal inter-university Kho Kho tournament for men by defeating Mysore University in the final which was played about 25 km from here on Thursday. It defeated Mysore 21-20.

Saket and M. Manish (3 and 2 points) were the main architects of the win for Mumbai while M. Santosh and Vikas Hegde with two points each played well for Mysore.

The host Kuvempu University came third defeating Andhra University 1-0.

Sri Hari of Andhra University was adjudged the Best Allrounder while Vikas Hegde of the Mysore University and Saket of the Mumbai University were adjudged as the Best Chaser and the Best Dodger respectively.

They were given the prizes instituted in the memory of the former Director of Physical Education at the Kuvempu University Mathew Gibson. — Special Correspondent
