The night Euphoria rocked

SCINTILLATING PERFORMANCE: Euphoria performing at the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode.

A concert by Euphoria proved a big hit at `Backwaters,' the annual management and cultural festival of the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode (IIM-K), held on the institute campus over the weekend.

The band, led by the versatile Palash Sen, performed many of its own hits, including "Maaeri" and "Dhoom pichuk dhoom," besides songs by other artistes and popular Bollywood numbers. Bryan Adams's "Summer of 69," Bon Jovi's "It's my life' and Deep Purple's "Smoke on the water" were among Euphoria's Western numbers.

From closer home, the band belted out "Masti ki pathshala... " (`Rang De Basanti'), "Beedi... " (`Omkara'), "Dil se... " (`Dil Se'), "Dil chahta hai... " (`Dil Chahta Hai') and "Om shanti om... " (`Karz'), as a huge crowd danced to the beats.

A concert by Motherjane and a play performed by the students of IIM-K were also featured in the cultural part of `Backwaters'.

The highlight of the business end of the event was `White Knight,' in which contestants had to come up with ideas that could make significant difference to agriculture, rural development, healthcare or renewable energy.

The competition, the first prize of which was worth Rs. 1 lakh, was won by Indian School of Business comprising Ali Potia, Megh Kalyanasundaram, Pranav Saraiya and Sindhu Shanmugam. SPJIMR, Mumbai, represented by Aditya V, Ananth Chilukuri, Gaurav Kumar and Vasav Varshney, was the runner-up.
