THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Government departments will be included in the national official Web portal www.india.gov.in, according to Additional Chief Secretary P.J. Thomas. He was inaugurating an awareness workshop on the national Web portal organised by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) here on Tuesday. He suggested that along with top officials, subordinate staff should also be actively involved in the endeavour. In his keynote address, Jyothilal, Secretary, Information Technology, wanted e-filing facility to be provided in the national portal. He said procedural formalities for including all departments under the State Government in the portal would soon be completed. Health Secretary Vishwas Mehta wanted all data and services to be provided through a single window portal. NIC Technical Director, New Delhi, Alka Mishra, said that the national portal was getting two million hits daily and 12,000 people had registered in the portal. Around 5,000 websites were linked to the portal and it had the facility for giving responses and evaluating services. NIC State Informatics Officer V.S. Raghunathan stated that the departments requiring inclusion in the portal and other IT services would be provided all assistance. NIC Technical Director, Kerala, Asha Varma, welcomed the gathering.
