Corporal punishment

The Tamil Nadu Government's order removing the rule that permitted corporal punishment in schools is a move in the right direction. Children make mistakes. They must be shown the right way in a gentle manner. Beating leaves a permanent scar in their minds.

A child needs the teacher's love, care, and affection the most when he or she deserves it the least. One or two affectionate words can transform the life of a student. The destiny of a nation is decided within the four walls of a classroom.
