LUCKNOW: The Congress and the Rashtriya Lok Dal submitted letters withdrawing support to the Mulayam Singh Yadav Government to Uttar Pradesh Governor T.V. Rajeswar at the Raj Bhavan here on Thursday.

While the Congress delegation, led by State Congress president Salman Khurshid, met the Governor at 10 a.m., the RLD, led by Legislature Party leader Kokab Hameed, met him at 1 p.m. The RLD had pulled out from the Government on January 6, while the Congress withdrew support on Wednesday.

Mr. Khurshid and Congress Legislature Party leader Pramod Tiwari said the party considered it its moral duty to oppose the present regime "in the interests of the State and democracy."
